How the builder plans your route
Mexico is big, and most good trips stay in one part of it. The builder compares a handful of proven routes (the Caribbean coast from Cancún, the Yucatán loop, Mexico City and the colonial highlands, Oaxaca and its coast, the Pacific resorts, and Baja), picks the one that best fits your interests and travel month, and gives each stop enough nights to be worth the move. It flags places that are much easier with a car and stops that are out of season.
Day 1 is your arrival day. Most flights from the US land by early afternoon, so you'll usually have the evening at your first stop. Your flight home comes after the last day shown.
Saving and sharing
“Save this trip” keeps the plan in this browser, so it's here when you come back. “Copy share link” makes a link that opens this exact plan for anyone you send it to. “Ask us to plan it” sends the route to our planning form so we can turn it into a booked trip.
Insider tip
If your route ends far from where it started, price an open-jaw ticket: fly into Mexico City and home from Oaxaca or Cancún, for example. A one-way domestic flight usually costs less than the time it takes to backtrack.
Next steps: price it with the budget calculator, check routes and times in getting around, and read the safety guide for the states on your route.
